Hello, I have a 1994 Onan 5000 GenSet Emerald Plus, Model No. 5BGEFA26100K and have had a hard time getting it started on this last trip. I have been exercising it as per the manual and it was running great up until about a month ago, but I must admit the last 3 months I exercised the unit it took a bit longer to fire up. I would have to crank and crank multiple times then bump it quickly and it would finally start but would surge for about a good 15 to 20 min and then start to run pretty much normal, with some surging now and then. So when I looked at the GenSet at home I noticed while trying to start it that the throttle linkage that runs from the outside of the carb up under the top of the cover to I guess a choke or the governor linkage was not moving at all while I was cranking. So I pushed the linkage to the left which turns the butterfly counterclockwise in the carb and the engine will start immediately then when I let go the linkage moves back and forth while surging and it quits. If I continue to do this when it warms up a little it will then keep running but will surge, especially under load. I checked the air filter, the inline fuel filter #1 and the little filter #2 located at the carb, also the fuel pump, all those items were good. Spark plug was good, fuses where fine. Could this be a governor or auto choke issue. Thanks for any help
