Why on earth are you using Recode for BURNING? Look coody, you've got over 500 posts and have been a member for years now. If you must burn with Nero, and I don't recommend doing that over using, why not just use the Burning ROM part of it? Using Nero Recode is nonsensical. Probably Recode is converting your DVD output from into MP4. So your post seems to indicate that you want to do this:MP4 input - DVD output - burn DVD output to DVDbut what you are actually doing is this:MP4 input - DVD output - MP4 output - burning to discNero probably used UDF 2.01 or greater and your DVD can't handle it, which is to be expected. Recode seems to be a little like, in that if you open a DVD or DVD title with it, you can re-author it and save it as a new DVD compilation, and if it will already fit on a disc, it won't re-encode anything.

Take DVDShrink, which co-incidentally also has an option to burn with Nero, and add the ability to convert to MP4 and you've pretty much got Nero Recode. Not that I'd open a 'ready to burn' DVD compilation with Nero Recode rather than Nero Burning ROM, but I would wonder why the burned disc would be different as a result.I can't speak for newer versions, but I've been using Nero 7 since the day it was released and I still use it. It's always burned discs as it should. As far as I know a DVD video disc always uses UDF 1.02.The version of Nero Recode I have makes you pick the output format before it'll even open any video, so unless coody did pick the wrong format before he started the process I'm not sure what could have gone wrong. I guess if he picked Nero Digital and the video was converted to MP4 and then burned directly to disc, it'd make sense, given the resulting file would likely to be too large to be burned using the ISO file system.A disc is just a disc though.

It'd be up to the OS or player to understand the file system used. I generally use ISO for data DVDs but if the files are too large I use UDF and I'm pretty sure Nero uses UDF 1.02 by default there too. Can you explain how you're burning to DVD with Recode?
I wasn't aware of any 'burn' capability in Recode, just the capability to convert various digital formats to the format. It lets you select either a hard drive folder or a DVD drive as the output location.
It's selected in the 'Burn Options' step of setting up a DVD encode. The older version I have, at least, will only open an existing DVD compilation. It'll either shrink and burn it like, or it'll convert it to 'Nero Digital' and/or burn it.You may be thinking of Nero Vision. The version I have will open a variety of video types and convert them to some sort of standard disc format, ie a VCD, DVD or Bluray video disc etc. Once again though, you can choose a disc drive as the output location and it'll automatically burn it for you when it's done converting.It makes sense. It'd be kind of silly for either of those programs to force you to open Nero Burning ROM to burn the converted files 'manually' when they're all part of the same 'suite' of programs. The free seems not burn the disc but only converts the MPEG-4 to VIDEOTS.

Do you mean using the to burn that VIDEOTS to the DVD disc? You do want to convert the video to a folder full of DVD files (vob and ifo files etc). If has already done so and converted them to a size which will already fit on a disc, you'd open Burning Rom and select 'DVD Video' as the type of disc you wish to burn, then add the DVD Flick files to Nero for it to burn them. If it's not a valid DVD compilation or it won't fit on the disc, Nero will complain about it.
Or use Nero Express to burn as it'll probably take you through the process step by step. Or Nero Smart Start or whatever they call it now. I only ever use Nero Burning ROM for burning myself.To convert an MP4 to DVD format with Nero, while also getting it to burn the DVD video disc for you when it's done converting, I'm pretty sure you'd need to use Nero Vision. Then you shouldn't need DVD Flick, but either way should work.
